CO-PARENTING CLASS

Two Parent, Two Homes

This a four-hour class designed to assist parents in focusing on the responsibilities of parenting from separate households and in keeping children out of the middle as they negotiate custody, visitation, child support, or divorce. A certificate is awarded upon completion of the class. Our instructors are trained professionals who facilitate classes through the use of handouts, videos, and group discussions. This class meets the parent education guidelines developed by the Supreme Court of Virginia.

INSTRUCTORS

  • My name is LaKetia Baker and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, teacher, speaker, and ordained minister with over 15 years of experience working with people who are ready to embark on their healing journey. I possess a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, a Master of Divinity and a Masters of Arts in Christian Education from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. I am also a proud United States Army Veteran.

    I am the owner and host of PH Balance, a relationship podcast which can be found on Apple podcasts, Spotify and other major podcast platform, a contributing author for the book “She Found Love in a Hopeless Place: An Anthology of Spiritual Journeys”, and I enjoy working out and spending time with family and friends.

    Driven by a passion to empower others, I seek to provide services for individuals, couples and families creating opportunities for clients to engage in critical discussions that cultivates healing, change and the development or enhancement of healthy and sustainable relationships.

  • Hey there! I am Georgette G. Nelson, RN, BSN, CNPE. I have 11 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings such as Long Term Care, skilled nursing facilities, pediatric home health and New Parent Support home visitor.

    I am a member of the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), and I am certified New Parent Educator.

    It is my goal to offer medical, administrative and educational services to families that will help to mitigate the stress and uncertainty of bringing home a newborn, caring for a child/children with special needs and provide parenting support.

    I am a trained postpartum mood and anxiety disorder provider through Postpartum Support Virginia.

    I am also an approved educator for the Virginia Court approved Co-Parenting, using the Two Parents, Two Homes Co-Parenting Curriculum.

  • Hello! My name is De’Andra Oliver. I am a CSAC supervisee and Qualified Mental Health Professional for Adults (QMHP-A). I have been working in the mental health field for over 15 years. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University and my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University.

    I have extensive experience working with incarcerated offenders, sex offenders, children, adolescents, adults, and military families. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am an Active Parenting facilitator and I am an approved educator through the Virginia Court to educate parents using the Two Parents, Two Homes Co-Parenting curriculum. I also facilitate a Smart Recovery group for individuals suffering from any addictive behavior.

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training course designed to give members of the public key skills to help someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Much like CPR training helps provide basic medical training to assist an individual experiencing a medical emergency like a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps community members assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

Participants learn a 5-step action plan to recognize and respond to challenges and crises and receive a three-year national certification upon completion.
